RSS Feeds

They may deny it but big tech companies definitely don't like RSS Feeds because it is immune to the algorithm funnel that they wanna herd people towards.

If RSS wasnt already grandfather'd into the internet it would never have come to pass in the modern day and age. It's sort of like how, if libraries weren't already a thing, trying to establish a place where people can just borrow books would be fought against as communism or whatever.

I miss Google Reader, it was one of the best RSS readers ever made. I currently use my own hosted FreshRSS which I've found to be the closest to it.

I've been using RSS Feeds for a few years now but I think I've taken it for granted as the landscape of the mainstream internet starts to decay even further.

If y'all want some examples of rss feeds i subscribe to (i will eventually make a proper blogroll dont worry) but here's a sample.

Pluralistic | RSS The newsletter/blog run by writer Cory Doctorow. I gel very well with his ideas about culture and technology. I first stumbled upon this when he was talking about the importance of the public domain which I agree with. Always has interesting links to delve down various rabbit holes.

A Bit of Good News | RSS Substack that delivers frequently a compilation of good news from around the world. Too often we can get bogged down in doom scrolling and that has definitely had a detriment on my own mental health. So this is like an antidote for that and brings good and wholesome news into your feed.

XKCD | RSS XKCD probably doesn't need an introduction. Longrunning webcomic about a lot of stuff, usually makes jokes that involve esoteric subjects, math, physics and so on. It's funny and gives me a frequent chuckle over my morning coffee

Just some of the things I enjoy, again I should probably make a proper blogroll at some point but for now this will do. Never let the magic of RSS die out!
